ANSIL Supports Local Teen Graduate

When Joseph Rodriguez walks across the stage at graduation, he has a pretty good idea how he’ll feel. Proud. So very proud. And he should. It’s been a long journey for the Legacy High School senior. Joseph spent most of his teen years in and out of the foster care system, and in recent months he’s been living in a transitional housing facility for young adults (ANSIL Hall). All the while, he’s been plugging away toward his goal of earning his high school diploma and then going on to college. He plans to attend Walla Walla Community College in the fall and study welding. Michelle Holmes, a counselor at Legacy, said Joseph has been a bright light. He’s a kind, helpful, steady presence – and he never seems daunted by the personal challenges he’s had to overcome. Joseph said it’s his nature to be positive and optimistic.
